Floodlit Friendlies
After floodlights had been installed at Molineux, Wolves embarked on a series of floodlit matches, beating Racing Club of Buenos Aires 3-1, Moscow Dynamo 2-1 and Spartak Moscow 4-0, but of all their floodlit fixtures against foriegn opposition, the match against the top Hungarian side Honved was the one that mattered. Hungary, led by Ferenc Puskas, had beaten England 6-3 at Wembley in November 1953 and the following summer emphasised their superiority by winning 7-1 in Budapest. With English football at a low, the match between Wolves and Honved took on a new meaning.
