Well the performance from Wolves today summed up the whole season in one - mediocre. The game started that way and all the way through to the final whistle was similar.
The first few minutes were slow and with the QPR fans out for a laugh and nothing to play for they were by far the more vocal. Micheal Branch tried to inject some life into the game with some good runs down the right wing and Proudlock down the centre but they amounted to nothing.
For a spell QPR had a few attacks but they were easily cut out by a strong defence especially Lescott who seemed to control the back line. When Wolves finally took the game to QPR it seemed it was too late in the first half to do much, but after forcing a few corners it eventually payed off when a quick, short one-two corner between Sinton and Connelly resulted in Sinton hitting Emblen with a far post cross. Emblen headed across goal and Lescott scrapped the ball over the line to the joy of the Molineux faithful.
After the break Wolves looked like a different team when they pushed back the visitors and crosses were flying in but not put away. It looked like the wanderers were taking control and Ketsbaia put through Branch for a one-on-one. The golden army rose expecting a goal, how foolish, as usual Branch lost his head and put the ball wide of the far post. Branch then missed another glorious chance when Lee Naylor's low cross fell to Micheal only for him to fall over (someone buy him a new pair of boots because the ones he's got don't seem to have any studs he trips over that much).
Against the run of play Rangers had a counterattack and won a free-kick just outside the Wolves area. Bruce sent a brilliant left-footed shot around the wall and into the top corner. As soon as that ball hit Bruce's foot it was going in.
This should have destroyed home fans spirit but instead the goal awoke them and they really got behind the men wearing gold and black. A quiet period followed despite the valiant efforts of fans until the final few minutes when Wolves went on a rampage keen to grab that winning goal. It resulted in a corner and Wolves knew it was time to look at next season when QPR made a goal line clearence.
The game was over and so was the season (thankfully) now everyone is looking to next season when Sir Jack says it will be his "last throw of the dice" and I feel we owe it to the man that saved Wolves to get into the premiership.
